MRL team of Islamic Azad University has ranked 1st in the 11th RoboCup Iran Open competitions. This is the sixth time that an MRL robot has taken first place in this tournament.

Omid Baye, supervisor of the MRL team, stated this robot and a flying version can be used extensively in the industry; “submarine robots can be used in missions with depths of over 40 meters, working with hazardous and acidic liquids, and radioactive environments,” he explains.

These robots also can be used in places where human divers would be in danger to reduce casualties and damage, such as controlling oil and gas pipelines, leakages, damages, rescuing, and monitoring nuclear reactors and fuel tanks.

“These robots do not have preconstructed pieces and the MRL team makes both the hardware and software for them,” said Baye.
