IAU, Damascus to Sign Co-op MoU

Syrian Deputy Science Minister met and negotiated with the president of Islamic Azad University, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi.

In a meeting with IAU president Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, Mohammad Maher Qabaqibi affirmed the importance of promoting the joint scientific and academic cooperation.

Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi also affirmed readiness to contribute to the reconstruction stage in Syria in the medical, scientific and economic domains. He affirmed that the policy of imposing embargo and economic siege will not dissuade peoples from achieving scientific progress.

Mohammad Maher Qabaqibi said that after achieving victory in Syria, we are looking for scientific development in our universities and Islamic Azad University can help us to achieve our goals.

Dr. Qabaqibi expressed his satisfaction of being in Iran during Fajr Decade and stated that Islamic Revolution demonstrates the victory over world arrogance and the triumph of “mostazafin”, which in traditional Quranic sense meant humble people.

He declared that scientists are able to strengthen ties and scientific cooperation in both countries. There are 270 thousand students, who 16 thousands of them are educating in higher education in Damascus University. After the Syria’s crisis, the number of students decreased therefore, we are trying to provide scientific and educational requirements with domestic facilities and helps from friendly countries.
