IAU Plays Major Role in Knowledge-Based Economy

Islamic Azad University has been a pioneer in developing science and technology in the country, with the objective of bringing a knowledge-based economy to fruition, achieving self-sufficiency and becoming independent from state budgets. The university has been especially successful in creating income from science and academic endeavors, and has established 77 growth centers and 470 knowledge-based companies and technology units so far.

According to Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, the president of Islamic Azad University, this organization has plans in place to increase the number of its growth centers and knowledge-based companies to 96 and 150 respectively, by the end of 2017.

The Qazvin branch has made particularly important contributions to the realization of the knowledge-based economy envisioned by IAU.
