Najafabad IAU Bags Gold in Asian Canoe Polo Championship

Nadia Ahmadi, BA student of physical education at Najafabad branch of Islamic Azad University and member of Iran’s national canoe polo team, has succeeded in bringing home a gold medal from the Asian Canoe Polo Championship 2015 in Hong Kong.

According to Azad News Agency (ANA), Ahmadi has stated that “this was the first women’s canoe polo competition in Asia, with 4 countries participating. In this competition, the national canoe polo team of Islamic Republic of Iran competed against Thailand, Singapore, and Hong Kong and succeeded in winning the gold medal after defeating them.

While expressing gratitude to the authorities of Iran’s canoe polo federation, Ahmadi stated that “I also would like to thank Dr. Amiri, the head of Najafabad IAU, for his ongoing attention towards sports.”

Regarding her future plans, Ahmadi declared “I’m preparing myself to participate in the upcoming World Canoe Polo Championships and I hope that the experiences gained during the Asian Competitions are instrumental in my winning of the title of world champion.”
