Iran to Boost Scientific Cooperation with World After JCPOA

The head of the Environment and Energy department of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch visited the Iran UNDP director to discuss Iran's interest in creating a closer relationship with international academic centers.

Iran Student Correspondents Association (ISCA) quoted Majid Abbas-pour as explaining that the assignment of a new key role in renewable energies to Iran by the United Nations necessitates developing communications with this international organization.

UN representative and Iran UNDP director Gary Lewis took note of the equipment and facilities of S & R IAU and emphasized that environmental issues are the UN’s main priority, particularly with regards to the development of nations like Iran.

Lewis also referred to the extensive collaboration between the IAU and UN on environmental matters and added that the large student base of S&R IAU, research and scientific achievements, and various educational and research programs can create international and educational opportunities and interactions.

The Iran UNDP director stated that after implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran will be able to share its research and scientific achievements with the world, a cooperation that will create mutual benefit. "Iranian universities and in particular the IAU S&R branch will be able to expand research and scientific interaction with the whole world," he concluded.
