Geneva University of Music Visits Central Tehran IAU

A senior delegation from Geneva University of Music visited the art faculty of Islamic Azad University, central Tehran branch.

According to ANA (Azad News Agency), a senior delegation from Geneva University of Music visited the facilities of central Tehran IAU’s Art faculty. The delegation was hosted by the head and deputy of the art faculty, music professors, and the representative of the IAU international affairs head office, and director general of international affairs at Central Tehran IAU.

The purpose of this meeting to identify existing potentials, introduce Iran’s rich musical culture and to make traditional Iranian musical instruments better known.

Dr. Abdol Hossein Mokhtabad, head of the art department of IAU central Tehran branch, stated that music is a language which reflects the culture of countries and stated “I hope that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) we've signed leads to constructive interaction for academics from both countries in transferring knowledge and culture."

The director general of Central Tehran IAU, Dr. Mohammad Moti'i, emphasized the importance of exchanging experience and know-how, noting that the willingness of the Geneva University of Music for developing academic and cultural cooperation shows the interest they have for Iran and Iranian culture.

Potentials for further cooperations were discussed in this meeting, in particular joint sabbaticals, workshops and courses between the two universities, introducing Iranian traditional musical instruments and renowned musicians.
