Qazvin IAU to Host the 11th RoboCup Iran Open Competitions

The RoboCup IranOpen 2016 will be held at Tehran International Fair in April 06-08, 2016. Iranian RoboCup Regional Committee and Qazvin Azad University.

Head of Qazvin IAU, Dr. Morteza Mousakhani stated that the 11th RoboCup Iran Open competitions will be held in April 0​6-​08, 201​6. The Iranian RoboCup Regional Committee and Qazvin IAU will hold the event with a focus on knowledge-based economy at the Tehran International Fair.”

“The International IranOpen RoboCup Competition is known as one the most important robotics competitions in the world - it is officially recognized with permits issued by International RoboCup Federation in West Asia and the Middle East,” he added, noting that the organizers of this event are grateful to have had the opportunity to host these competitions for over a decade.

“The number of competitors in previous tournaments reveal that the competition has a special place among researchers and scientists of the world. Over 3000 national and 60 international teams from America, England, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, China, Thailand, India, Pakistan, and the UAE have participated in the form of research, pupil, and students team so far,” Mousakhani noted.

“624 teams from Germany, England, America, South Korea, Canada, Afghanistan, Peru, Iran, and China will compete in 26 RoboCup league” announced the head of Iranian RoboCup National Committee (IRNC).

The Iranian RoboCup National Committee was officially formed in July 2006. Its main objective is to promote Robotics and AI research within Iran. The members of the committee are from various Iranian universities and institutes. Following new regulations introduced by the RoboCup Federation, the official name of this committee has been changed to the Iranian RoboCup Regional Committee since July 2014.

RoboCup (Originally called the Robot World Cup Initiative) is an international research and education initiative. It is an attempt to foster AI and intelligent robotics research by providing a standard problem where wide range of technologies can be integrated and examined, as well as being used for integrated project-oriented education.
