IAU Steadfastly Backs National Sports

The president of Islamic Azad University has been selected as a top director of private sector sports in the ceremony acknowledging the athletic champions of the country.

According to Iran Student Correspondents Association (ISCA), Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh stated that IAU pays special attention to sports and pointed to Dr. Dadkan’s significant role in IAU’s progress in this department, such as establishing the Cultural-Sport Club and the presence of 340 champions as coaches, athletes, and managers.

In his interview with ISCA News Agency, Dr. Mirzadeh explained that IAU sports teams are active in 20 fields and have achieved many successes so far. “Sport are directly linked to national pride and people's health and this is an obvious way for reducing healthcare costs."

“About 200 thousand people in IAU are active in sports and we are planning to increase that number to 400 thousand. Some stadiums are under construction which will be finalized soon,” he noted, adding that IAU currently has 22 Teams, and 700 thousand square meters of sport spaces.
