The president of Islamic Azad University, Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh, sent a message on the occasion of National teachers' day and honored the memory and martyrdom of Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari, renowned writer and teacher.

According to ISCA (Iran Student Correspondents Association), the message is as follows:

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

“Beholding the countenance of scholars is akin to worshipping the Lord,” said the Holy Prophet (PBUH)

I cherish May 1, (12th of Ordibehesht), National teachers' day and the martyrdom anniversary of Islamic scholar and thinker of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari.

The growth, and development of a society depends on the existence of a proper educational system. Combining knowledge and practice and adorning education with moral virtues is no easy task and requires the efforts of professors and teachers.

The great martyr, Ayatollah Motahhari, was a perfect example of a virtuous teacher. He strived to raise a generation that were the heirs of deep-rooted, significant revolution, one that was in a way inspired by Motahhari and Shariati, through the powers of belief and the pen and reliance upon knowledge and faith; today, it is a model for independent and powerful countries throughout the world.

The effect of education and training on Iran’s political, cultural, social, and economical history and the existence of such bright stars in the firmament of Islamic Iran, compel everyone to protect the honor and dignity of the teachers and masters of this land.

Teachers are the intellectuals who prefer to remain in position of vigilance and understanding in the face of all hardships and financial straits, and understand the needs of our Islamic beloved homeland to faith and resistance from the knowledge and insight.

I congratulate all of my dear colleagues, professors and teachers, especially our co-workers at IAU and SAMA and I hope God will help us serve teachers more than ever before.
