Student of Shahr-e-Rey IAU Wins Gold Medal in Freestyle World Cup 2016

A student of Islamic Azad University, Yad-e-gar Imam (RA) unit of Shahr-e-Rey branch, has bagged the gold medal in World Freestyle Wrestling Championships.

According to an ANA report, in the 57-kilogram weight class, a PE student of Yad-e-gar Imam (RA) unit of Shahr-e-Rey branch, Hassan Rahimi, defeated his Azeri competitor Makmud Magomedov 11-1.

Rahimi, who is a four-time world medalist and was the 2013 world champion, competed with his Russian opponent, winner of the Europe gold medal, and succeeded in winning against him with the result of 5-3, winning this tournament for the seventh time.

The Freestyle World Cup 2016 started in Inglewood, near Los Angeles, the US. The national Iranian freestyle wrestling team is in search of the Fifth Straight Title at the prestigious two-day sporting event.
