Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ready to Work with IAU

The president of Islamic Azad University, Dr. Hamid Mirzadeh met with Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs to exchange views about IAU international affairs.

According to IAU Public Relations, Dr. Zarif stated that the international presence of IAU and other universities is essential in public and academic diplomacy and announced that the ministry is ready to cooperate with IAU.

Dr. Zarif also pointed to his background of working and teaching at IAU, stating that the advancement of university in terms of development and its academic endeavors are the fruit of the Islamic Revolution, and he expressed his hopes that the university will achieve the same progress in the field of its international affairs.

The Minister of Foreign affairs made mention of a proposal he had made during his tenure with IAU for founding a higher education academic center for global studies, and explained that such centers are instrumental in enabling academics, experts, and students understand and contribute to international relations.

Dr. Mirzadeh spoke with appreciation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) implementation and the significant opportunities it has created for the development of international academic networks in different countries. He stated that IAU is committed to cooperating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is serious in developing its network to attract Persian-speaking people and promote research and academic cooperation.

The IAU president also expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their collaboration in establishing IAU offices in Milan, Italy, Essen, Germany, Moscow, Russia, Oxford, England, Dubai, UAE, Beirut, Lebanon, Kabul, and Afghanistan, stating that IAU is ready to run offices or branches in countries suggested by the ministry.

At the conclusion of this meeting, Dr. Zarif emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is prepared for academic and international cooperation with the Islamic Azad University and stated that his orders on the matter will be circulated to ministry entities.
