The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch, have signed a cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

According to an ANA report, the MoU was signed in order to develop and expand research and educational affairs in various areas, such environmental affairs, preparing suitable background for effective communication, and promoting and carrying out research and educational activities.

This cooperation will be focused on exchanging information and experiences in academic areas, specifically in the field of environmental law and also using facilities and capacities of both sides. Its content also covers supporting research projects with on climate change, supplying sustainable development goals, ecotourism and tourism industry, and holding national and international educational courses, seminars, conferences, and workshops.

Exchanging scientific documents, elite and notable professors and students, utilizing mutual research equipment, cooperating in launching research and academic sites and databases, developing interactions with international organizations such as UNEP, UN, UNDP, ROPME, and translating national and international documents are on the agenda for both sides.

UNESCO aims to contribute to peace and security by promoting international collaboration through educational, scientific, and cultural reforms in order to increase universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with fundamental freedom proclaimed in the United Nations Charter.
