Student of Mianeh IAU Snatches Bronze at Rio Paralympics

A PE student of Mianeh IAU, Asadollah Azimi won a bronze medal on day 7 of the Rio 2016 Paralympics

Asadollah Azimi competed in the Men's Shot Put - F53 against his rivals from Jamaica, Palestine, Czech Republic, Greece, Japan, America, Croatia, and Mexico and bagged the bronze medal with a throw of 8.14m at the Olympic Stadium on September 14, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The throws of the 56 year-old Bronze medalist were recorded as 7.47 meters in his first shot, 8.06 in the second, and 8.14 meters in the final, earning the 14th medal for the Iranian delegation.

Silver medalist, Scot Severn, from the US had his best finish after three Paralympics with 8.41m for the silver and gold medalist Che Jon Fernandes of Greece won gold with a throw of 8.44m.

The Iranian delegation finished in 11th place in the previous edition, winning 10 gold medals, seven silvers, and seven bronze medals in this competition.
