Najafabad IAU Researchers Make Magnetic Nanoparticles from Walnut Hulls

Researchers at Najafabad IAU have synthesized magnetic nanocomposite nanoparticles from the green hull of the common walnut.

According to the Iran Nano Technology Initiative Council, Dr. Majid Ghashang chose the walnut tree as an ideal candidate in green synthesis of nanoparticle using a process that is easy, efficient, and eco-friendly, and stated that as the walnut is one of the most abundant trees in Iran, “in this research, an environmentally friendly and inexpensive method was used in order to produce magnetic nanoparticles with optimized properties.”

Due to the smaller size of the produced magnetic nanoparticles in this research in comparison with other similar samples, they have high magnetic performance, and the walnut green hull extract has allowed for the specific desired morphology and uniform size of the particles, which are used in electronic and electrical, optical and magnetic applications and in biological processes .

The research, the results of which was published in the journal Current Nanoscience, was carried out by Dr. Majid Ghashang and Dr. Mohammad Reza Shafiee, faculty members of Najafabad IAU, Mina Hashemi, MA student of this university, and Mahboubeh Kargar, PhD student of Isfahan University.
