Isfahan IAU Hosts International Scientific Conference on Research and Innovation in Organic Agriculture

The International Scientific Conference on Research and Innovation in Organic Agriculture was held in Islamic Azad University, Isfahan branch.

The International Scientific Conference on Research and Innovation in Organic Agriculture hosted by Azad University and supported by the International Society of Organic Agriculture Research (ISOFAR) with the presence of researchers and investigators form Italy, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Nigeria in Isfahan IAU, ISCA reports.

IAU faculty professor Mohammad Reza Ardakani stated that due to the rapid advances in this area, organic science is receiving increasing international attention and that the world is now witnessing the third generation of organic sciences which entails their application to organic agriculture.”

"Iran must begin by focusing on its indigenous plants and flora, as the country hosts many valuable species that can be of use in organic agriculture," said Ardakani, adding that research centers and specialists should intensify their efforts to address the deficit in organic seeds with respect to the climate and needs of the population.

The head of ISOFAR, Gerold Rahmann, also noted that organic agriculture can help solve future challenges in the global food chain and that research in this field requires the a powerful network to be built among governments, universities, and professional associations. He cited the number of organic farmers worldwide which are supported by various associations as 2 million and 3 hundred thousand.
