Saqqez IAU Student becomes Champion in Int’l Muay Thai Kickboxing Championships

A student of Islamic Azad University, Saqqez branch, became International Muay Thai champion at the Kickboxing competitions.

According to Iran Student Correspondents Association (ISCA), Kaveh Soleimani, captain of Iran’s National Team, took the champion title for the Muay Thai tournaments held in Anzali Free Zone on November 3.2016.

The competitions were held in 3 rounds (each round about 3 minutes) with martial artists from Caspian littoral states including Iran, Russia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan and top Iranian Muay Thai Kickboxing athletes in the Anzali Free Zone.

Muay Thai is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This physical and mental discipline which includes combat on shins is known as "the art of eight limbs" because it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, shins, being associated with good physical preparation that makes a full-contact fighter very efficient.
