Porous Concrete: Qazvin IAU Approaches Water Scarcity

A civil engineering student of Islamic Azad University, Qazvin branch, presented one of the university’s new achievement, porous concrete, at the 17th Exhibition of Research and Technological Achievements.

According to an ISCA report, Pedram Mohammad Ghasemi stated that his project, porous concrete, transfers water from dams and city roads to designated reservoirs.

He explained that the project can be used abundantly in cities that are in danger of flooding during rainfall, “in low rainfall or even in the northern cities of our country, using this concrete can help with the water shortage and prevent water wasting, guiding the rain water to a source which makes it reusable.

Ghasemi finally noted that porous concrete can channel the conserved rainfall to be used in watering urban green spaces and farmlands.

This project was carried out by Amir Yavari, the supervisor, Farshd Meftahi, Ali Karim-doost, Diba Ahadzadeh-ghanad, and Fatemeh Saberi.
