The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world's top universities in individual subject areas, covering 46 subjects as of 2017. The rankings aim to help prospective students identify the world's leading schools in their chosen field, with the list of subjects extended each year in response to high demand for subject-level comparisons.
Nine Iranian universities are included in the top 500 in this ranking in eight subject areas including architecture and man-made environments, civil and structural engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, agriculture and forestry, medicine, pharmacy, and chemistry.
In the field of agriculture and forestry, IAU placed in the 251-300 position. Tehran University placed among the 150 world top universities in two fields, architecture and man-made environment and civil and structural engineering.
The new QS Rankings represents the most comprehensive of its kind yet published, with more than 11,000 individual placings in 46 distinct academic areas. A total of 1,127 universities and colleges from 74 countries were assessed for the new publication.
