Dr. Farhad Rahbar: A Short Background

Following the initiation of Dr. Farhad Rahbar, the former president of University of Tehran, as the president of Islamic Azad University, ISCANews presents a brief outline of his work in the Iranian academia.

According to an ISCA report, Dr. Rahbar completed his degree, Bachelor's to Ph.D., at Tehran University in the field of theoretical economics. He has published 16 international academic papers in English and over 40 papers in Persian, and has supervised 60 theses in higher education.

Dr. Rahbar was the chairman of Tehran University, faculty of the Ministry of Intelligence, for a year and was active in the Islamic Revolution Housing Foundation from 1980 till 1983. Dr. Rahbar was also a deputy to president Ahmadinejad in year 2005 and head of the Iran Management and Planning Organization for a year.

The IAU president was the faculty member of the Center for International Scientific Studies and Collaboration (CISSC) and from February 2008 until February 2014, he was the president of University of Tehran.

Among the other academic and executive highlights of Dr. Rahbar's career are his standing as faculty of the Organization for Researching and Composing University Textbooks in the Humanities (SAMT), member of National Higher Education Committee affiliated with the UNESCO Commission, member of the Coordination Committee for the Council of Higher Education Development(in the Payam-e-Noor University), and faculty member and academic expert in the Council for Policy and Strategic Supervision on Research and Technology in the oil industry.
