IAU Faculty Member Shines in 23rd ICID Congress & 68th IEC Meeting

A faculty member of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch, has won the international WatSave Innovative Water Management Award in the 23rd ICID Congress and 68th IEC Meeting which was inaugurated on 9 October 2017.

According to an ISCA report, The ICID triennial Congresses focus on the upcoming issues that need to be addressed in irrigation, drainage and flood management. The Congresses also provide a platform for reviewing a number of contentious issues concerning the future of irrigation water vis-à-vis increased demands for competitive uses of water.

This year’s congress theme was ‘Modernizing Irrigation and Drainage for a New Green Revolution’ and the plan of Dr. Mahdi Sarai Tabrizi, faculty member and assistant professor of S & R IAU Department of Water Engineering, could win the international award and received the highest score from international referees in the section of young experts’ innovative ideas in water saving section.

In this regard, Dr. Sarai Tabrizi thanked his supervisor, Dr. Hossein Babazadeh, for his incredible role in this success and hoped for serious cooperation among professors, governmental, semi- governmental and international research institutes.
