Researchers from Jahrom Islamic Azad University have recorded 22 New Gene Species at the World Gene Bank for the first time.

According to an ISCA report, the head of Jahrom IAU, Dr. Kourosh Sorourzadeh stated that Somayeh Khodayari with cooperation of Dr. Farshid Kafilzadeh, Professor of Marine Biology, Department of Biology of Jahrom IAU, succeeded to identify and record 22 new gene species in World Gene bank.

Dr. Sorourzadeh explained that the research group could separate 22 types of bacterial genes responsible for decomposing Keratin from the soil of surrounding areas of Shiraz province and recorded this achievement in the name of Jahrom IAU at the World Gene bank.

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi and protozoa. Identifying which genes in a genome are essential for survival has been a long-standing goal of geneticists.
