Bandar Abbas IAU Faculty Make Diabetic-Friendly Sweets

Two faculty members of Islamic Azad University, Bandar Abbas branch have unveiled the diabetic-friendly sweets to produce in large quantities.

According to an ISCA report, Delaram Nokhbe Zare in cooperation with Shahrokh Khani could make a kind of sweets with stevia extract and Spirulina, a natural “algae” (cyanbacteria) that is incredibly high in protein, a good source of antioxidants, B-vitamins and other nutrients.

Nokhbe Zare added that this product comes from the Stevia rebaudiana plant, which is a member of the chrysanthemum family, a subgroup of the Asteraceae family (ragweed family). Stevia has no calories, and it is 200 times sweeter than sugar in the same concentration.

As she explained, the products include protein, rich iron, zinc, magnesium, calcium and vitamins b1, b2, b6 and b12 as well as body required minerals.
