IAU Taekwondo Team Becomes Champion in World Cup in Abidjan

The taekwondo team of Islamic Azad University could win the 21st edition of World Taekwondo Team Championships in Ivory Coast, following a narrow victory over an outfit from Russia.

According to an ISCA report, Iran, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Russia, the US, China, Taiwan, the World Taekwondo Demonstration team and the host country were the eight submitted teams for the games.

As the representative team of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the two-day-long sporting event in the Ivorian capital city of Abijan, IAU beat the Russian side 36-34 on Wednesday to stand on the top of the table at the end of their campaign.

The Islamic Azad University taekwondo team had Soroush Ahmadi, Hadi Tiran Valipour, Seyyed Hossein Ehsani, Mehdi Khodabakhshi, Saeed Rajabi and Erfan Nazemi in its array, and was under the tutelage of Seyyed Ne’mat Khalifah.
