UNESCO Awards Six IIDCYA Members

UNESCO Center Louis Francois in France honored members of the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults of Iran at its 2017 international visual arts competition.

The center is an educational association approved by the French Ministry of Youth and Sports and tasked with raising awareness about the issue of climate change among the youth through art.

The theme of the 2017 competition was ‘Water, Blue Gold.’ The event received a total of 2,800 works by competitors of ages between 3 and 25 years, from 40 countries, Iranian Visual Art News Agency reported.

IIDCYA submitted 47 works. Among the winners of the competition were six members of IIDCYA who received diplomas of honor. They are Andia Heydari from Kermanshah Province; Masoumeh Sharafoddini and Mohammad-Sadra Taqinejad from South Khorasan Province; Masoumeh Mirahmadi from Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province; Mahsa Fereydouni from Lorestan Province and Rosha Babai from Tehran Province.

“Water is not a necessity of life. Water is life,” said the statement of the competition. “Water is associated with purification and renewal … Mythology and religions have associated water with birth, fertility and purity. Many rituals are performed next to water. It is essential for growing crops, magnificent in forming rivers and falls, and fearsome when comes flooding.”

IIDCYA is a respected organization with a wide range of cultural and artistic activities for the mental and cultural development of children and young adults.
