Researchers of IAU Central Tehran IAU Young Researchers and Elite Club Create High-Performance Asymmetric Supercapacitors

Researchers of Young Researchers and Elite Club of Islamic Azad University have developed a novel advanced electrode with superior electrochemical properties for high-performance asymmetric supercapacitors.

According to an ISCA report, hierarchical multi-shelled nanoporous mixed copper cobalt phosphide microspheres have been for the first time developed as a novel advanced electrode with superior electrochemical properties for high-performance asymmetric supercapacitors.

In order to demonstrate the potential application of MN-CCP as a supercapacitor electrode, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and galvanostatic charge–discharge (CD) measurements were performed in a three-electrode cell containing a 3 M aqueous KOH electrolyte.

One of the researcher, Seyyed Ebrahim Moosavifard explained that since the performance of all types of sensors, catalysts, nano-reactors, fuel cells, batteries and supercapacitors is depending on their shape and characteristics of the microstructure of the ingredients, therefore, designing and providing a simple and inexpensive way to produce nanostructures is very essential.

He also added that these supercapacitors can be applied in various fields including medical (to design and make drug release systems, Biosensors, Nanoractors), energy (to make fuel cells and batteries) and chemical industry (sensors, catalysts and photocatalyst).

The research was carried out by Seyyed Ebrahim Moosavifard, member of Central Tehran IAU Young Researchers and Elite Club, Saeid Kamari Kaverlavani from Department of Physics, Tarbiat Modares University, Javad Shamsi, member of Nanochemistry Department, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Genova, Italy and Ali Bakouei, faculty member of Tarbiat Modares University.
