A faculty member of Science and Research Islamic Azad University, Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE), stated that the university has been placed among the top 4 aerospace universities in the country.

In his interview with ISCA News Agency, Dr. Farshad Pazooki declared that Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FMAE), originally a part of the Faculty of Engineering, was separated from that faculty to begin work as an independent body in 20008 reflecting the broad range of its interest and the high number of its students and academic staff.

As he explained, the main goal of this faculty is to educate and train students in mathematics, physics, mechanics and aerospace sciences to develop, strengthen and enhance abilities to analyze, model ,build ,measure ,design and implement solutions throughout a broad spectrum of engineering fields.

He spoke of the university’s facilities including simulation and aerodynamics laboratory as well as mutual labs with other groups such as mechanical, mechanic of fluids, strength of materials and thermo-dynamics laboratories and added that Science and Research IAU has a high credibility after Sharif, Khajeh Nasir Toosi and Amirkabir University of Technology.

The faculty offers B.Sc, M.Sc and PhD in both mechanical and aerospace engineering and the process of formulation, design, control, optimization and manufacturing of new systems and devices are emphasized at the faculty both in education and research as the starting point for the graduates’ careers in energy, mechanical and aerospace engineering.

February 2, 2009, was named the National Day of Space Technology when Iran launched its first domestically-made satellite ‘Omid’ into space and joined the list of countries with the capability of launching satellites. The launch was verified by NASA the following day as a success.
