Ilkhchi IAU Students Shine in RoboCup 2018 in Canada

IRC team of Islamic Azad University, Ilkhchi branch has achieved satisfactory results and won several medals at RoboCup 2018, an annual international robotics competition that took place in Montreal, Canada, from June 18 to 22 this year.

According to an ISCA report, the Montreal 2018 RoboCup wrapped up on June 22, and the Iranian teams returned home with three gold, three silver and one bronze medals.

As the only representative of the Iranian academic community in Adult-size Humanoid Robot League, Ilkhchi IAU IRC team succeeded to overcome its rivals from Germany, Japan, China and Korea and ranked fourth in this competition.

Humanoid Robots are one of the most complicated robots in building and controlling steps. Humanoid robots competition is one great opportunity for progressing in robotic science.

The team has some different experiences in kid size Humanoid robots. Therefore it started to build an Adult size robot for participating in the RoboCup competitions. The IRC robot is one autonomous adult-size humanoid robot that is completely built manually.

The Montreal 2018 RoboCup wrapped up on June 22 with participants from Iran, Germany, US, Portugal, Austria, China, Brazil, the Netherlands, Turkey, Mexico, Japan, Canada, Singapore, etc.

Next year’s RoboCup will be held in Australia, at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Sydney.
