Iranian Researchers Develop Electrocorticography System to Record Brain Nerve Signals

Saturday, August 18, 2018 - 10:04

Researchers from K. N. Toosi University of Technology have developed an electrocorticography system that can record better and clear brain nerve signals.

According to an ISCA report, Dr. Amir Masood Sodagar, faculty member of K. N. Toosi University of Technology, conducted a research team, designed and developed a compact micro-electrocorticography (μECoG) system to record 8 channels of ECoG signals.

Based on the research, Recorded neural data are sent off the system through a capacitive data telemetry link to the external world. The system has been prototyped using off-the-shelf electronic components and custom-designed electrodes, link, and package.

For the verification of the function of the system, function of the building blocks was first individually tested, and then the cascade of the electrode array followed by the analog signal preconditioning block was tested in-vivo.

As Dr. Sodagar said, developing domestic technologies and localizing some parts of recording neural signals system from the brain surface was considered as one of the most important aspects of this project.
