Saturday, September 1, 2018 - 13:05

The 5th Summer School of Brain and Cognition (Especially for the secretaries and members of the Central Council of Scientific-Student Associations) will be held in Tehran on September 1-7, 2018.

According to an ISCA report, the 5th Summer School of Brain and Cognition will be held by National Brain Mapping Lab in cooperation with Iranian Neuroscience Society in Tehran on September 1-7.

The school, special for primary and secondary school pupils throughout the country, with the presence of prominent professors in neuroscience and cognitive science at the top universities, presents along with group and practical activities, including neural tissue histology, anatomy of the nervous system, research methods in neuroscience, physiology, electrophysiology, brain mapping, artificial intelligence, sensation and perception, memory and learning, strategies for improving cognitive functions, cognitive aspects of psychiatric diseases and neurology , Cognitive games, neuropsychological awareness, team building with the neuroscience approach.

Cognitive neuroscience is an emerging interdisciplinary field of study, which is concerned with the neural substrate of mental processes. It is at the intersection of cognitive psychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience, combining theories of cognitive psychology with modern neuroscience methodologies.

The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of modern theories of brain organization and functioning and how these relate to cognitive processes in both healthy and pathological populations.

National Brain Mapping Laboratory (NBML) is constructed to facilitate the development and growth of neuroimaging and brain modulation fields, fulfillment of (at least a part of) research and technical requirements in these fields in the country and provide related knowledge-based and up-to-date services. The Laboratory has been equipped with high tech facilities settled in different sections including MRI, EEG, fNIRS, tES/TMS, and cognitive assessment.
