S & R IAU Researcher Investigates New Method to Reduce Dental Implant Failure

A researcher from Islamic Azad University, Science and Research branch, has studied the relationship between diameter of implant fixture and the heat transfer which may lead to the death of bone tissue and dental implant failure.

According to an ISCA report, Mehrnaz Mirdehghan, MA student of S & R IAU, Faculty of Medical Sciences and Technologies, investigated BioHorizons Implant System in order to reduce dental implant failures.

Based on the research results, when dental implant fixture with a diameter of 3 mm, is being placed, temperature would not increase too much to cause bone death.

The researcher is going to investigate the relationship between the rotation speed of the fixture and dental implant failure to reach to the desirable achievement in reducing dental implant failure rate.

The research has been carried out by Mehrnaz Mirdehghan, also advised by Dr. Siamak Khoramimehr, professor of Shahid Beheshti Dental School.
