22% of Iranian Universities Among Top Global Universities

The first general assembly of the Virtual Universities Network of Islamic World has been taken place at Payam Noor University on September 24, 2018.

According to an ISCA report, deputy minister of Science for International Affairs Hossein Salar Amoli stated that based on the latest ranking of the Liden Institute for Science and Technology this year, 22 percent of Iranian universities are among the world's top universities.

As he said, 18 percent of universities at graduate levels in Iran are listed among the best universities, also 1.95 percent of world-class research is being produced by the Iranian universities, and one percent of the world's most cited articles belong to Iran.

Dr. Amoli noted that over the last few years, there are two thousand active knowledge-based companies in Iran, and commercialization of research and research is part of Iran's policies.

Prior to recognizing the importance of sustainable development over the past 40 years, science and technology were of great importance to us, and the human resources played a key role in this area, he declared.

Following the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Charter and according to the Article 15 of Resolution of the 14th General Assembly Meeting of Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), the COMSTECH Inter-Islamic Network on Virtual Universities (CINVU) was suggested to be established to support the educational and research networks based on ICT technology and knowledge engineering.
