Iranian Researchers Produce Self-Cleaning and Antibacteric Tile

Iranian researchers have produced nano raw materials which can be applied on tile surface to reduce environmental pollution and endows the tile material with self-cleaning, antibacterial and odor elimination properties.

According to an ISCA report, the head of a tech company located in Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC), Tohid Rahimi stated that the nano raw materials can be applied to a tile before the process of baking to add antibacterial, anti-odor, self-cleaning and photocatalytic properties to the final product.

Based on the obtained results, the applied coatings are transparent, show a good adhesion, and a remarkable antibacterial activity under the tested conditions.

As he said, this product can be used in hospitals, hotels and universities. Also, these nanomaterials, which are less expensive than nanosilvers, can be applied in plastics and textiles.

Materials and Energy Research Center was established in 1971 and since then it was among Iranian top Institutes in the fields of Advanced Materials, Renewable Energies and Environment.
