Iranian researchers have developed a kind of chewing gum by using pistacia atlantica tree resin that enhance memory and treat digestive diseases.

According to an ISCA report, the common chewing gums are made of artificial resins but Iranian researchers succeeded to produce a natural product based on herbal substances by removing chemical resins.

In his interview with ISNA, Hossein Kardan, the project’s executor explained that resins used in the product are taken from pistacia atlantica tree so “Being natural-based, the chewing gum can be swallowed.”

As he said, this kind of chewing gum treats dyspepsia and constipation. Given its memory-enhancing properties, boswellia is applied in the formulation of the product. Thus, people at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease can use it, the researcher said.
