Students of Science and Research Islamic Azad University have developed a specialized flooring which generates electricity whenever someone walks over it.

According to an ISCA report, Elmira Rahimzadeh and Parian Barouji Kia Kalaee developed flooring tech and made “Generate Harvesting Floor”, an innovative approach to sustainability by generating energy from something that most people do every day: walk.

With each passing year, the problem of the world's increasing energy needs, but decreasing energy supply becomes a greater worry for society. But this conundrum has also become a great inspiration for innovators.

The application is that as people step on the flooring, their weight pushes down on electromagnetic induction generators causing them to move. The kinetic energy is then transferred into off-grid electricity which is very useful for crowded streets.

The prototype of this flooring can be applied by startups and knowledge firms to easily integrate into public spaces, as well as maximize energy capture and output.

Energy-harvesting floor may be just one step for man, but taking many such steps may lead to a more powerful and sustainable future.
