Shahr Rey IAU Opens 1st Smart City Startup Weekend

The opening ceremony of the first Smart City Startup Weekend has been held in Islamic Azad University, Yadegar-e-Imam branch on January 13-15, 2019.

According to an ANA report, the first Smart City Startup Weekend with the focus on knowledge-based firms and startups development has been held with the presence of investors and industry owners, coincide with the 1st International Exhibition of Housing, Urban Planning & Urban Regeneration in Imam Khomeini Musalla.

Executive secretary of this event, Maryam Gholizadeh stated that Yadegar-e-Imam IAU aims at supporting research achievements commercialization, developing startups and knowledge-based companies and running startup accelerators in the field of transportation and communications networks through launching such events.

She continued that Yadegar-e-Imam IAU has held three successful Startup Weekend in various fields as well as 11 transportation scientific events so far in order to support startup groups, brand building and ideologists.

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
