Iran, Belgium to Develop Academic Co-op

Minister of Science, Research and Technology has met and negotiated with Belgian Minister of Higher Education, also agreed on expanding academic cooperation.

Dr. Mansour Gholami pointed to the expansion of scientific cooperation with European states as a priority and added considering qualification and international position of Belgian universities, Iran intends to expand its academic ties with this country, IRNA reported.

In this meeting, Jean–Claude Marcourt spoke of Iran's history, civilization and cultural position, welcomed expansion of scientific cooperation while saying that it would be a priority on his working agenda. He also expressed readiness to hold common projects and program to exchange professors and students.

Gholami, heading an academic delegation, arrived in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday afternoon to attend the third session of working group for scientific and technology cooperation between Iran and European Union.

During his stay in Brussels, Gholami paid visit to Leuven University and held meeting with EU Commissioner for Research and Renovation Carlos Moedas.
