IAU Playing Significant Role in Promoting Iran Scientific Ranking

IAU deputy of parliamentary affairs has stated that Islamic Azad University has been playing a major role in promoting Iran’s ranking in the area of science production.

According to an ANA report, Dr. Alireza Monadi Sefidan, deputy of parliamentary affairs, said that the number of students were about 170 thousand before Islamic Revolution, but right now this number is 4 million.

He explained that in the field of stem cells and space research, Iran is about top 8 countries in the world. Also Iran ranks 17th in economy, and 16th in the field of science production.

Dr. Monadi added that with a million and 500 thousand students and a thousand faculty members and staffs, Islamic Azad University has been playing a significant role in promoting the country’s ranking in producing science. The university could improve Iran’s global ranking about 10 places.

Previously, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mansour Gholami announced that the country has come to stand atop other world nations in the production of different scientific contents in quantitative terms.

“Based on ISI and SCOPUS data, the Islamic Republic of Iran is the first world country in terms of the growth of scientific productions in quantity,” Gholami said, addressing the inauguration ceremony of the third workgroup of scientific cooperation between Iran and the EU in Brussels.
