IAU to Open 1st Knowledge City

The president of Islamic Azad University has announced on running the first “Knowledge City” in Najafabad IAU.

According to an ISCA report, Esfahan Steel Company and Islamic Azad University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in order to expand scientific, research and educational cooperation.

The IAU president, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi stated that almost 80 thousand thesis and 10 thousand Ph.D. dissertations are being produced every year in this university, so as IAU’s valuable resources, the university can act as a research organization.

He also announced on providing the necessary infrastructure to run the first “Knowledge City” in Najafabad IAU. Knowledge City is committed to the advancement of knowledge economies and knowledge societies all over the world. It provides a wide range of services and activities to companies, organizations and public administration, as well as to individuals and cities as a whole.

No city knows everything. Knowledge City connects the participating cities, their companies and knowledge service providers in a growing, global knowledge city network. Through this network all partners can better access the knowledge of other cities and can provide their own knowledge to an extended global market.

Speaking of the changes made in the general structure of the university, Dr. Tehranchi noted that deputies of Art and Humanities, Engineering and Agriculture Sciences, Skill and Public Education and Research, Technology and Innovation were formed.

He finally added that the gap between the university and industry must be reduced and MoUs should not be considered as a demonstration but has to be implemented. Universities can make industry dynamic and upgrade it as well.
