The head of Varamin Islamic Azad University has announced that the university has been focusing on one of the great challenges of Ministry of Agriculture Jihad in the field of agricultural wastes left after harvesting the crops.

According to an ISCA report, Hamed Zarei stated that education, science production, problem solving and individual and social excellence are IAU’s four main approaches but almost 95% of the university’s capacities have been allocated to the “education”.

He continued that there are many gaps in other approaches, specifically in the field of problem solving, in this regard, the IAU president has emphasized on problem-based learning that is a method of learning and teaching which allows students to focus on how and what they will learn. An unfamiliar problem, situation or task is presented to the students (by the lecturer or tutor) and students are required to determine for themselves how they will go about solving the problem.

Zarei spoke of the unit’s new mission and said that based on Azad Payesh Plan which is referring to an Effective Unified Research Network, the university has been responsible to focus on “food security” and to create constructive communication and interaction with Ministry of Agriculture Jihad to meet and manage challenges of this area.
