Sharif University of Technology Wins Bronze in ICPC 2019

Students of Sharif University of Technology could win a bronze medal in ICPC, the world’s premiere university sports programming competition.

According to an ISCA report, a team from Sharif University of Technology has succeeded to snatch a bronze medal in 2019 International Collegiate Programming Contest.

The ICPC is the world’s premiere university sports programming competition, tracing its roots to 1970 with the first Finals in 1976. Last year, 40,266 students from 2,736 universities from 102 countries on six continents competed for the privilege of advancing to the ICPC World Finals.

Previously, the qualification round (regional contest) of the 2019 ACM/ICPC was held in Tehran, where the team comprising of Iran's Sharif University of Technology won the title and advanced to the main international contest.

In the final round, held in Porto, Portugal, hosted by the University of Porto and the City of Porto from March 31 till April 5, 2019, Sharif University of Technology could beat teams from Princeton, Harvard, Oxford, St. Petersburg and Stanford, placed among top 10 teams and won bronze medal in this contest.

In ICPC competitions, teams of three students represent their university in multiple levels of regional competition. The contest has consistently showcased the best university students of computing. Preparing for and competing in the ICPC gives students a chance to improve their skills as well as an opportunity to show themselves to the world-wide IT community.
