Qazvin IAU Unveils Horizontal Directional Drill to Dredge Flooded Areas

Students of Qazvin Islamic Azad University have made a horizontal directional drill to remove flood deposits, sediments derived from a running water source (river) and can consist of clay, gravel, sand, and etc.

According to an ISCA report, horizontal directional drill, made by Qazvin IAU students, was unveiled with the presence of IAU president, Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and the head of Qazvin IAU, Dr. Morteza Mousakhani to help Pol Dokhtar where hard hit by flood.

In this ceremony, Dr. Tehranchi noted that the machine was made in line with meeting people’s needs, so we could see the application of IAU students’ innovations to help compatriots during crisis conditions.

Dr. Tehranchi continued that people’s fundamental problem in flooded area is that large parts of the city and houses are covered by mud, therefore this machine can clean up them fast again.

After the provinces of Fars and Golestan, the flood attacked Iran’s Lorestan and other western provinces. During the past few weeks, Iranian people, officials, and Armed Forces have joined hands and stepped up relief efforts in several provinces hardest hit by flash floods, as people in most parts of the country continue to grapple with adverse weather conditions.
