Times Higher Education (THE) has recently unveiled the league table for Asia’s top universities in 2019.

According to THE official website, four Iranian universities including Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (ranked 43), Amirkabir University of Technology (ranked 80), Sharif University of Technology (ranked 86) and University of Kashan (ranked 99) succeeded in securing positions in world top university rankings and were placed among top 100 universities in Asia.

Tsinghua University rises to the top, knocking last year’s leading player, National University of Singapore (NUS), down to second place. It’s the first time a Chinese university has bagged the premier position in THE‘s regional Asia rankings.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) comes in third, jumping up two spaces from last year’s joint fifth. This year, HKUST makes its debut as the leading educational player in the special administrative region of China.

In this most recent league table, THE employed the same 13 performance indicators used in other rankings – including teaching, research and industry income – only the criteria were adapted to suit the unique attributes of these Asian institutions.
