IAU Students Shine in Karate 1-Series A Istanbul

Students of Islamic Azad University showcased an excellent level and snatched gold and bronze medals at the Karate 1-Series A Istanbul.

According to an ISCA report, Iranian representatives won six gold and three bronze medals at the second Karate 1-Series A event of the season finished in Istanbul (Turkey). During the competitions, IAU students could win 4 medals, one gold and three bronze medals, in this tournament.

Bahman Asgari Ghoncheh, in Male Kumite -75kg, used his world champion status to claim an impressive 6-1 victory over Luigi Busa of Italy in the final and won the gold medal.

Mahdi Khodabakhshi in Male Kumite -84kg, Ali Meskini in Male Kumite -60kg and Ali Zand, Iran Male Kata team claimed three bronze medals.

Iranian karatekas topped the medal table by winning six gold and three bronze medals in the second Karate 1-Series A in Istanbul, Turkey.

As many as 1,813 karatekas from 101 countries took part at the international tournament. Host country Turkey claimed the second place after Iran, followed by Japan in the third place.
