Solar-Powered Desalination Device Made in Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman

Researchers at Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman have made a solar powered desalination device capable of purifying water.

According to an ISCA report, this new solar-powered desalination device is capable of purifying water, about 10 liters, per day.

Solar-powered desalination device transforms saline water into drinking water by converting the sun’s energy to heat, directly or indirectly, to drive the desalination process.

This innovative, low-cost technology can turn seawater into drinking water, thanks to the use of solar energy alone. The goal is to assess the feasibility and profitability of the substitution of fuel energy used for desalination plants with renewable energy.

This solar powered machine is a kind of humidifier-dehumidifier device that is equipped with heat pump therefore, heat obtained from humid air flow in condenser, (before air entering the humidifier unit) will be returned to the unit through the heat pump condenser.
