Times Higher Education (THE) has released the name of 351 best universities under 50 years old, assessing them across teaching, research, international outlook and their work with industry.

According to an ISCA report, the acting head of Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) Mohammad Javad Dehghani stated that 13 Iranian universities have been listed among the top 300+ universities under 50.

Babol Noshirvani University of Technology (66), Isfahan University of Technology and University of Kashan (101-150), Shiraz University of Technology (151-200), Iran University of Medical Sciences and University of Mazandaran (201-250), Azarbaijan Shahid Madani University, University of Guilan and University of Zanjan (251-300), University of Birjand, Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman, Shahrood University of Technology and Yazd University (+301) have been placed among the top 300+ universities under 50 in this ranking.

THE looked at the best institutions that were founded between 1945 and 1967 – known as a “Golden Age” for public higher education. Being more than 50 years old (although still very young for universities), these institutions fall outside the parameters of the Young University Rankings.

The University of California, San Diego has topped, Australian National University remains in second place, while the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which tops the international outlook pillar, is third. Seoul National University also holds on to fourth place overall and is number one for teaching environment.

The University of Warwick is now fifth, up from eighth, largely due to receiving a higher citation impact score, while the University of Science and Technology of China is the first university in mainland China to feature in the top 10, claiming seventh place (up from 13th last year).
