Birjand IAU, Afghanistan to Cooperate in Agriculture Industry

Birjand Islamic Azad University and Afghanistan have signed an extra-territorial agreement to have joint agricultural products, said the head of South Khorasan Province IAU.

According to an ISCA report, Seyed Hassan Hashemi stated that the agricultural sector is vital for the country’s economic and social development therefore; moving forward in this industry will lead to independence and self-sufficiency in producing products.

Hashemi declared that due to the sufficient water resources in Afghanistan, the university signed an extra-territorial agreement with this country to transfer our farming knowledge to this area and have joint agricultural products.

“We are going to produce sugar beet in Afghanistan and re-run the factory to produce related products,” he noted and added that saffron is considered as a notable product in developing agriculture products in Afghanistan.

As he finally declared, South Khorasan Province IAU has created an Agricultural Research Center in the province, also made various cities responsible for advancing agriculture industry through carrying out missions called Agricultural Research Stations.
