IAU Student Claims Gold in Napoli 2019

Iran's Asian Games champion and student of Islamic Azad University Mirhashem Hosseini won gold medal at the 30th Summer Universiade in the Italian city of Naples.

According to an ISCA report, Mirhashem Hosseini won the men’s -68kg gold medal through falling down Kyungdeok Kim from South Korea having a solid advantage in points.

He advanced to the finals and face Mohammad Ketabi Si from Belgium. In the final category, he was leading in points and kept increasing his advantage and celebrated his victory with a national flag (20-3).

Hosseini, also a winner at Taipei 2017, told Fisu, “The level and quality of the competition is very high. I had a very big motivation today. My aim is to go to the Olympic Games next year and win a gold medal.”

Gold: Mirhashem Hosseini (Islamic Republic of Iran)

Silver: Mohammad Ketabi Si (Belgium)

Bronze: Kyungdeok Kim (South Korea)

Bronze: Sergey Vardazaryan (Armenia)
