The head of otorhinolaryngology, head and neck research center at Iran University of Medical Science has announced on creating the first Iranian odor sensitivity test kit based on local odors.

According to an ISCA report, researchers from Iran University of Medical Science could produce the first odor sensitivity test kit based on local odors.

As Dr. Mohammad Farhadi said in his interview with IRNA news agency, the new kit is tailored to Iran natural environment and the common smells in the country.

He explained that there are three kinds of the kit; the first kind tests 24 different odors common in Iran. The second one tests the users’ ability to identify the smells, differentiate between them and their overall olfactory sense and the third type is a highly rapid test that examines five different common smells in the country in less than two minutes.

Usually, the odor sensitivity test kit is used to test the olfactory ability of odor inspection staff. This portable, simple to use kit makes it easy to screen potential noses and continually monitor their olfactory acuity.
