Iranian Sharif University Students Rank 1st in US AIAAA Aircraft Design

An aircraft, designed by Sharif University of Technology students in Iran, has won the first place at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) competition.

According to an ISCA report, ShadX, New Horizon, team members are all undergraduates in aerospace engineering who can win the first place at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) competition. Also, Mina Fathi, who had competed individually in this competition, could gain the first place in the section of Undergraduate Individual Aircraft Design.

The team, headed by Mohammad Bagher Malaek and advised by Seyed Reza Fatahi Masoud, included Mohammad Hossein Sabeti, Mohammad Mehdi Mohammadi, Alireza Akbari, Hossein Akbari, Mohadese Ghasemi, Zahra Saedi, Mohammad Alizadeh, Yasamin Karamian, Mohammad Reza Najafi and Farid Rasouli.


It is worth mention that Sharif University of Technology students could win the first place in the section of designing gas turbines in the Design Competition of AIAA and in the first phase of the competition, the Faras team was among the top 3 teams for their proposal on designing engines for a hybrid electric medium altitude long endurance search and rescue UAV.
