Iranian Researchers Develop Flow Control Valve Reducing Water Consumption by 50%

Monday, September 2, 2019 - 11:51

Iranian researchers have developed a flow control valve that reduces water consumption by 20 to 50 percent in farms.

According to an ISCA report, Mahammad Bi Jen Khan, research project executor, stated that as an applied product in saving water consumption, the device could successfully pass the tests and conserves 20 to 50 percent more water in agriculture industry.

As he said, this device can be applied even in lower water pressure and asymmetric pressure distribution. Flow control valves are designed to maintain a constant pre-set maximum flow regardless of fluctuating demand or varying system pressure.

Flow limiting is required at the outlets from main systems to consumers like secondary systems (main line to hydrant line; hydrant line to distribution line), reservoirs, etc. in order to protect the supplying system from over consumption.
